Mobile Pay allows you to make transactions with only the app and does not require the use of your hardware device to approve transactions. When you enable Mobile Pay, you select a daily limit and as long as your daily transactions don’t exceed this limit, your hardware device will not be required to approve the transaction(s). Any transaction(s) made that exceed that daily limit will require hardware device approval. Hardware approved transactions don’t count towards your daily Mobile Pay limit. Mobile Pay is not enabled by default.
To set up Mobile Pay, follow the steps below:
- From the Bitkey app Home Screen select Settings
- Tap Mobile Pay
- Toggle Mobile Pay to On
- Use the slider to set your daily limit
- Select Set limit and confirm changes with your hardware device
Once Mobile Pay is enabled, any transaction that causes you to exceed your daily limit will require hardware device approval. Hardware approved transactions don’t count towards your daily Mobile Pay limit. Transaction spend that counts towards your mobile transaction limit resets daily at 3 am local time (4 am if your local time zone observes daylight savings). Mobile transaction limits can be updated at any time. See How do I update my Mobile Pay settings? for more information.
Note: If you lose your phone and it was unlocked at the time it was lost / stolen, and you have set up Mobile Pay transactions, it’s possible that whoever is in possession of your phone can make Mobile Pay transactions until you initiate a recovery request, at which point Mobile Pay will be turned off.
