Trusted Contacts are people you know and trust who can help you recover your wallet if you ever lose access to your phone or Bitkey hardware device. You can add up to three Trusted Contacts.
Tip: Let your contact know in advance that you're inviting them, so they’re ready to accept the request.
To add a Trusted Contact
- From the Bitkey app Home Screen, tap the
Settings icon.
- Select
Trusted Contacts.
- Tap Invite.
- Enter your Trusted Contact’s name and tap Continue.
- Tap Save Trusted Contact, then confirm using your hardware device.
- Tap Share invite, then send the invitation to your Trusted Contact.
- When you see You’re all set, tap Got it.
Let your Trusted Contact know you sent them an invitation and ask them to accept it. They'll need to follow the steps in How do I become a Trusted Contact?
Note: if the invitation expires before it’s accepted, you’ll need to remove the contact and send a new invitation.
⚠️ Important: Once your Trusted Contact accepts the invitation, you’ll receive a notification.
Open the Bitkey app again to complete activation — this step is required.
Their name will appear under Trusted Contacts > Your Trusted Contacts with a status of Active.
If you don’t reopen the app to activate them, they will not be able to help you with recovery.
To remove a Trusted Contact
- From the Bitkey app Home Screen, tap the
Settings icon.
- Select
Trusted Contacts.
- Under Your Trusted Contacts, tap the contact you'd like to remove.
