Trusted Contacts are people you know and trust that can help you recover should you ever lose part of your wallet. You can add up to three Trusted Contacts. We recommend that you talk with your Trusted Contact before inviting them to be a Trusted Contact so they can be on the lookout for their invitation.
To add a Trusted Contact:
- From the Bitkey app Home Screen select
Settings
- Select
Trusted Contacts
- Select Invite
- Enter your Trusted Contact’s name and Continue
- Select Save Trusted Contact and confirm using your hardware device
- Select Share invite and then share the invite with your Trusted Contact
- When you see You’re all set, select Got it
- Let your Trusted Contact know you sent them a Trusted Contact invite and ask them to accept it.
- Your Trusted Contact will need to follow the steps in How do I become a Trusted Contact? to accept the invitation.
- If your Trusted Contact's invitation expired before they accepted it, you will need to remove them as a Trusted Contact and add them again.
- After your Trusted Contact has accepted their invitation, return to the Bitkey app to activate your you will see their name listed under Your Trusted Contacts
IMPORTANT: When your Trusted Contact accepts their invitation, you will receive a notification of their acceptance. You must reopen your Bitkey app to activate them as a Trusted Contact. Once activated, their name will appear under Trusted Contacts > Your Trusted Contacts with Active as their status. if you do not activate them as a Trusted Contact, they will not be able to assist you with recovery.
To remove a Trusted Contact:
- From the Bitkey app Home Screen select
Settings
- Select
Trusted Contacts
- Under Your Trusted Contacts, select the Trusted Contact you would like to remove and tap Remove Trusted Contact
