If you are using a Bitkey beta hardware device with our launched version of the Bitkey app, and are seeing persistent NFC errors, or are seeing a message that your “Bitkey hardware device is not authentic”, it’s likely because your Bitkey hardware device is not on the latest version of firmware. The steps below should correct the situation.
If you have set up your Bitkey hardware device with the beta version of the Bitkey app:
- Open the Bitkey Beta App and complete setup with your device, if you haven’t already.
- From Home Screen, go to Settings > Bitkey Device > Sync device info.
- If you are on any firmware version that is below 1.0.65, you will need to upgrade your firmware.
- You should now see that an Update is available. Select the option to proceed.
- Hold your Bitkey hardware device steady behind the phone as the % counter ticks up. Don’t remove your hardware device until the counter is at 100%.
- If you are on iOS, you may need to restart the update a few times to get it all the way to 100%.
- Once the firmware update has completed, select Sync device info. Confirm that you have updated to firmware version 1.0.65.
- Now that you are on firmware version 1.0.65, your beta hardware device should be compatible with the Bitkey launch version of the app and you can try to set up your Bitkey again, using the launch version of the Bitkey app.
