Bitkey gives you the ability to lock the Bitkey app so only you, or those who can unlock your phone, can open the app. To use Bitkey’s App security feature, you must first enable the lock / lock screen feature on your phone if not already enabled. If you are not sure how to do this in settings, please contact your phone manufacturer.
Once you have enabled lock / lock screen settings on your phone, follow the steps below:
- From the Bitkey app Home Screen, go to Settings
- Under Security & Recovery, select App security
- Locate the App security feature you would like to enable and toggle it On
- Select Scan Bitkey Device and confirm using your hardware device
To turn off the Bitkey App security feature, follow the steps above and toggle the enabled feature to Off. This will also require an approval from your Bitkey hardware device
Once you have enabled Bitkey’s App security feature, the app will automatically lock whenever you switch to another app, force close the Bitkey app, or power off your phone. If you are using a biometric check on your phone, such as FaceID or a fingerprint scan, and have set up a PIN as fallback, you’ll be able to use that same PIN as a fallback to open the Bitkey app if the biometric checks fail.
