Bitcoin sent to your Bitkey wallet should typically appear as a pending transaction within a few minutes of the sender initiating it. However, Bitkey can only show the transaction once it’s visible in the Bitcoin mempool.
If the transaction is taking longer than expected to appear, try the following steps:
- Make sure your Bitkey app is connected to the internet
-
Refresh your transaction history.
-
Pull down on the Home Screen in the Bitkey app to manually refresh
Note: Some wallets batch transactions and may delay broadcasting. In these cases, the transaction won’t appear in Bitkey until the sender’s wallet broadcasts it to the mempool.
-
Pull down on the Home Screen in the Bitkey app to manually refresh
- Confirm the sender used the correct address.
-
Check the Bitcoin network using a block explorer like mempool.space:
- Paste the address you gave the sender into the search bar.
- If no transaction appears, the sender may not have sent the transaction yet, their wallet may not have broadcast it, or there may be a technical issue with their wallet software.
-
Ask the sender for the Transaction ID (TXID)
- You can use mempool.space or another block explorer to look up the TXID and view the transaction’s status, number of confirmations, and destination address.
Note: Funds sent to a Bitkey address that was created prior to completing a single Delay + Notify recovery can still be accessed. See How do I access funds sent to a previously created Bitkey address? for more information.
