Bitcoin addresses don’t ever expire, which means they can technically be used and reused indefinitely. However, using the same address indefinitely can pose some risks. Bitcoin addresses are created using both your mobile and hardware keys (as well as the key Bitkey holds in our server). If you replace either of the keys you hold, by replacing your Bitkey hardware or by going through a Mobile Key Recovery, addresses made using the older keys become harder (or impossible) to spend from. It's best practice for both safety and privacy to always use a fresh bitcoin address when receiving or depositing funds into Bitkey.
If the address was created after a Delay + Notify recovery was completed, or if you have never done a recovery, then funds sent to a previously generated address will be available in your wallet.
If the address was created before a Delay + Notify recovery was completed, then funds sent to a previously generated address will not be accessible. We are still developing this functionality for an improved experience in the future.
Tip: To ensure you always have access to funds sent to you, and to protect the privacy of your transactions, we recommend that you use a new address anytime funds are sent to you.
