If you log into a different iCloud or Google drive account on your existing mobile phone, Bitkey’s Cloud Health Check will try to create a new copy of the encrypted Mobile Key backup when the Bitkey app is next opened. You may get an in-app notification prompting you to take action, such as approval from your Bitkey hardware.
If you want to change the Google drive that your Bitkey is using to store your cloud backup, follow the steps below:
To disconnect from your current Google drive:
- Click here to go to your Google account.
- Locate and select Bitkey.
- Locate and select Delete all connections you have with Bitkey.
- Select Confirm.
- From the Bitkey app Home Screen, select
Settings
- Select
Cloud Backup. It may take some time for the next screen to appear.
- Under Mobile Key Backup, you should see a message Problem with Google account access. Select Back up now.
- You will be prompted to select your old Google account. Select Cancel.
- You will be directed to a screen that says You’re not signed in to Google. Select Sign in to Google.
- When you are asked to Choose an account, select or add the account that you would like to back up your Bitkey too.
- When asked to Sign in to Bitkey, select Continue.
- Select Allow when prompted to grant the required permissions. This will allow Bitkey to create, prepare, and upload your backup which may take some time to complete.
- When complete, you will be returned to the Cloud Backup screen. You should now see a checkmark
next to Google backup, Successfully backed up
Note: If you want to change from using Bitkey from one mobile operating system to the other, you will need to initiate a Delay + Notify recovery process on that new phone, using your Bitkey hardware. At the end of that process, you will be able to create a new Mobile Key to be saved in an alternate cloud account. More information can be found in How do I access my Bitkey wallet on my new phone?
