If your firmware update fails, it’s usually because the NFC connection between your phone and Bitkey device was interrupted during the update.
When this happens:
- You’ll see an error notification in the Bitkey app
- Tap the option to retry the firmware update — it will resume from where it left off
- Hold your Bitkey device to your phone and keep it in steady contact until the update completes
💡 Tip: Keep your Bitkey device and phone in contact the entire time. Moving them apart can interrupt the update—only separate them if the app tells you to.
🔎 Note for iOS users: During a firmware update, you may see a short pause message with a countdown. This is normal—tap Continue when it becomes available. You may need to do this more than once.
