How do I set up Transfer without hardware and a transfer limit?

Transfer without hardware allows you to send transactions using only the Bitkey app, up to a daily limit you set.

To enable this, Bitkey co-signs transactions up to your limit. This allows smaller transactions to be completed without your hardware device.

If a transaction causes you to exceed your daily transfer limit, you’ll need to approve it using your Bitkey device.

1. From the Bitkey app Home Screen, tap the settings icon.
2. Tap Transfers.
3. Toggle Transfer without hardware to On.
4. Enter your daily transfer limit amount.
5. Tap Confirm daily limit.
6. Approve the action using your unlocked Bitkey device:
   • Hold your unlocked Bitkey device to your phone. 
   • If prompted to confirm on your hardware, follow the instructions on your Bitkey screen, then hold it to your phone again to complete verification.

To turn it off, return to the same screen and toggle the setting to Off.

• If a transaction causes you to exceed your daily transfer limit, you’ll need to approve it using your Bitkey device.
• Transactions that require hardware approval do not count toward your daily transfer limit.
• Your daily transfer limit resets at 3 AM local time (or 4 AM if your time zone observes daylight savings).
• You can update your limit at any time.

💡 Tip: Notice your daily transfer limit looks different than expected?
If you’ve changed your display currency since setting your transfer limit, the number may appear to fluctuate due to exchange rate changes. This doesn’t affect the actual limit you originally set.

🔐 Security tip:
If your phone is lost while unlocked and Transfer without hardware is enabled, someone could send funds up to your transfer limit until you initiate recovery. Once recovery begins, your transfer limit will be automatically disabled for your protection.
