Bitkey provides a safe, easy to use and hard to lose solution for storing Bitcoin. Bitkey uses multisig cryptography to provide safety against loss, and single points of failure without compromising security. Ownership of keys for Bitkey is spread between Block’s secure back-end and Bitkey hardware. Since Block is not a custodian in the Bitkey architecture, we have a reduced need to collect personal identification information.
At Bitkey, security is our highest priority. To protect your assets, we've implemented critical email alerts that notify you of any security-sensitive actions related to your wallet, such as recovery attempts or inheritance claims. These alerts are essential for keeping you informed about the safety of your inheritance and notify you to take action if necessary. Bitkey has crafted our emails in such a way that emails cannot be interacted with by a user which reduces the attack surface area to Bitkey funds from email.
These alerts are for informational purposes only—they do not approve, verify, or decline security-related actions. Instead, they notify you of important activity, allowing you to take the necessary steps to protect your wallet. For example, if an inheritance claim is unintentionally started by a beneficiary, critical email alerts are used to notify you to take action. This ensures you can react if someone attempts to access, recover, or claim your funds inadvertently. Our commitment to security means giving you the tools and information you need to secure your assets, while respecting your privacy.
