Recovery Contacts are people you know and trust who can help you recover your wallet if you ever lose access to your phone or Bitkey hardware device. You can add up to three Recovery Contacts.
💡Tip: Let your contact know in advance that you're inviting them, so they’re ready to accept the request.
To add a Recovery Contact
- Tap the
shield icon to open the Security hub
- Tap
Recovery Contacts
- Tap Invite
- Enter your Recovery Contact’s name and tap Continue
- Tap Save Recovery Contact, then approve the action using your unlocked Bitkey device:
- Hold your unlocked Bitkey device to your phone.
- If prompted to confirm on your hardware, follow the instructions on your Bitkey screen, then hold it to your phone again to complete verification.
- Tap Share invite, then send it to your Recovery Contact
- When you see You’re all set, tap Got it
⚠️ Important: When you see You’re all set, tap Got it — you’ve completed your part of the process. Your Recovery Contact must also accept the invitation. The process is complete when you both see each other listed in your apps with a status of Active.
💡Tips:
- Your Recovery Contact will need to follow the steps in How do I become a Recovery Contact?
- If the invitation expires before it’s accepted, you’ll need to remove the contact and send a new invitation.
