Recovery Contacts are people you know and trust who can help you recover your wallet if you ever lose access to your phone or Bitkey hardware device. You can add up to three Recovery Contacts.
Tip: Let your contact know in advance that you're inviting them, so they’re ready to accept the request.
To add a Recovery Contact
- In the
tab bar at the bottom of the Home screen, tap the
shield icon to open the Security hub
- Tap
Recovery Contacts
- Tap Invite
- Enter your Recovery Contact’s name and tap Continue
- Tap Save Recovery Contact, then confirm using your hardware device
- Tap Share invite, then send the invitation to your Recovery Contact
- When you see You’re all set, tap Got it
Tips:
- Your Recovery Contact will need to follow the steps in How do I become a Recovery Contact?
- If the invitation expires before it’s accepted, you’ll need to remove the contact and send a new invitation.
⚠️ Important: Once your Recovery Contact accepts the invitation, you’ll receive a notification. Open the Bitkey app again to complete activation — this step is required. Their name will appear under Trusted Contacts > Your Trusted Contacts with a status of Active.
