Bitkey automatically generates a new address for every receive transaction. These addresses are all tied to your current keyset and wallet, so funds sent to them will automatically appear in your wallet.
However, if you’ve completed a Delay + Notify recovery, any addresses created before that recovery will be associated with a previous keyset in an inactive wallet.
Bitkey can detect and access funds in an inactive wallet as long as two keys are still available. If we detect funds in an inactive wallet, we’ll notify you so that you can sweep the funds into your current wallet.
🔄 We recommend that if you’re still receiving funds to old addresses (i.e. ones created prior to recovering via Delay & Notify), you update the sender to use a new address from your current wallet and keyset as soon as possible.
To access funds in an inactive wallet:
- If Bitkey detects funds in an inactive wallet, you’ll see a Funds in an inactive wallet banner on the Home screen.
- Tap the alert to view the transaction details.
- Tap Confirm transfer, then follow the on-screen prompts to approve the transfer using your Bitkey hardware device.
- Once complete, tap Done to return to the Home screen.
- The transfer will appear under Pending transactions until it is confirmed on the blockchain.
