If you’ve been invited to be a beneficiary, it means a Bitkey wallet owner wants you to be able to access their funds in the event of their death.
To accept a beneficiary invitation, you must have your own Bitkey wallet (hardware device + app). If you don’t have one, you can purchase it at bitkey.world or through one of our authorized retailers.
Follow the steps below based on whether you already use Bitkey or are setting it up for the first time.
If you already use Bitkey:
- Tap the link in the beneficiary invitation from your mobile device. The Bitkey app will open and automatically apply the invitation code.
- If the link doesn’t work, open the Bitkey app, go to
Settings >
Inheritance, then go to the Benefactors tab, tap Accept, and enter the invitation code manually.
- If the link doesn’t work, open the Bitkey app, go to
- Review the invitation screen
- Enter the name of your benefactor, then tap Continue
- Confirm using your Bitkey hardware device
When you see You're all set, tap Done — you’ve completed your part of the process. Your benefactor still needs to activate you as their beneficiary.
The process is complete when you both see each other listed in your apps with Active next to your names.
You can check your beneficiary status at any time.
