If your Bitkey device isn’t recognizing your fingerprint, try the steps below.
Check your device has power
Tap the fingerprint sensor and look for a response on the screen.
If you’re using Bitkey without a screen, look for an LED response.
If nothing appears, plug your device into power and allow it to charge for at least 30 minutes, then try again.

Use an enrolled fingerprint
Bitkey will only recognize fingerprints that were previously saved.
Use the exact finger you enrolled during setup
If you added additional fingerprints, try those
Make sure your finger is clean and dry
💡Tip: Moisture, lotion, sweat, cuts, oil, or very dry skin can affect recognition.
Place your finger on the sensor correctly
- Hold your device the same way you did when setting up your fingerprint
- Rest your finger naturally on the sensor with steady pressure
- Hold until you see a response on the screen
- If your fingerprint isn’t recognized, lift your finger, adjust slightly, and try again
If you’re using Bitkey without a screen, you can place the device on a flat surface and rest your finger on the sensor:
- The LED will turn 🟢 green when your device is unlocked
- If the LED turns 🔴 red, adjust your finger and try again
Restart your device
Restarting your device can help resolve temporary issues.
