Using your Bitkey hardware device, follow the steps below:
If you still have your Bitkey hardware device and are recovering your wallet on a new phone, follow the steps below.
iOS
- Download the Bitkey app to your new iPhone
- Open the app and tap More Options >
Restore your wallet
- If a backup is found:
- Tap Restore Bitkey Wallet
- If you're the wallet owner, approve the action using your unlocked Bitkey device:
- Hold your unlocked Bitkey device to your phone.
- If prompted to confirm on your hardware, follow the instructions on your Bitkey screen, then hold it to your phone again to complete verification.
- If you're recovering as a Recovery Contact, no hardware device is required
- Your wallet will be ready to use once the restore is complete.
- If no backup is found:
- Tap Recover your wallet to begin a Delay + Notify recovery using your Bitkey device
- Follow on the on-screen instructions and approve the action using your unlocked Bitkey device:
- Hold your unlocked Bitkey device to your phone.
- If prompted to confirm on your hardware, follow the instructions on your Bitkey screen, then hold it to your phone again to complete verification.
- A 7-day security delay will begin. You'll receive notifications throughout the waiting period
- You can cancel recovery anytime from the recovery in progress screen
- After 7 days, a new App Key will be created on your phone
- Complete recovery by approving a bitcoin transaction to move funds from your old App Key to your new one. Confirm your balance — it should reflect your previous wallet balance, minus a small network fee.

New keys, a new cloud backup, and a new Emergency Access Kit will be created.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: If you have previously provided a Bitkey wallet address to an exchange or sender, update them with a new address after completing a Delay + Notify recovery.Funds sent to a Bitkey address that was created prior to completing a Delay + Notify recovery can still be accessed.

- Download the Bitkey app to your new Android phone

- Sign in to the Google account used to set up Bitkey. Once signed in, Bitkey will check for your cloud backup.
- If a backup is found:
