Bitkey uses notifications to share general updates — such as transaction activity and product announcements.
These are separate from critical alerts, which are used for security-sensitive actions (like recovery or inheritance) that could affect your wallet.
To learn more, see:
👉 What are critical alerts and how do I update how I’m notified about them?.
To update your notification preferences:
- From the Home screen, tap the
settings icon
- Select
Notifications
- Choose which notifications you’d like to receive
- Tap Continue to save your preferences
- If prompted, approve the action using your unlocked Bitkey device:
- Hold your unlocked Bitkey device to your phone
- If prompted to confirm on your hardware, follow the instructions on your Bitkey screen, then hold it to your phone again to complete verification
🔎 Note: Notification settings control whether Bitkey can notify you about activity related to your wallet.
⚠️ Important: Transaction notifications and privacy
When transaction notifications are turned on, Bitkey stores receive addresses created by your wallet so that we can notify you when funds are received.
If transaction notifications are turned off, Bitkey does not store your wallet’s receive addresses.
If you turn transaction notifications off after they’ve been on:
- All previously stored receive addresses are deleted
- Bitkey will no longer be able to notify you about funds sent to those addresses
- This applies even if you turn notifications back on later
