Critical alerts are used to communicate important updates about your wallet — including recovery, inheritance, and privacy-related events. These alerts help you stay informed about security-sensitive actions that could affect your wallet.
To make sure you don’t miss anything, it’s important to keep your email address and phone number up to date. We recommend reviewing your settings regularly.
To update how you receive critical alerts:
- Tap the
shield icon to open the Security hub
- Tap
Critical alerts
- Select the notification channel you want to add, update, or remove (email, SMS, push)
- Follow the on-screen prompts
- If you’re adding or updating email or SMS, you’ll need to enter a verification code
- If you’re disabling a channel, you may be asked to confirm
- If prompted, approve the action using your unlocked Bitkey device:
- Hold your unlocked Bitkey device to your phone.
- If prompted to confirm on your hardware, follow the instructions on your Bitkey screen, then hold it to your phone again to complete verification.
- Your changes are saved automatically. Tap the
back arrow to return to the Security hub
⚠️ Important: SMS notifications may not be available in all countries and depend on regional and carrier availability. If SMS isn’t available when updating your settings, choose another available option such as email or push notifications.
