Once you have completed Bitkey setup and have enrolled at least one fingerprint, you will need to unlock your device, using an enrolled fingerprint, before you can use it to approve actions in the Bitkey app.
To unlock your hardware device, touch your finger on the fingerprint sensor to wake the device to scan for a fingerprint match. If a fingerprint match is found, the LED will turn green, indicating that your device is unlocked and can be used to approve actions in the Bitkey app. If a fingerprint match is not found, the LED will turn red, indicating that your device is locked and can not be used to approve actions in the Bitkey app. If you are having trouble scanning your fingerprint, see My fingerprint isn’t recognized by my Bitkey hardware device for more information.
To lock an unlocked hardware device, touch the fingerprint reader with a finger that hasn’t been enrolled. When the LED turns red, your hardware device will be locked.
Your hardware device will also lock itself after:
- Being used to approve most Bitkey app actions (ie, security changes, signing transactions)
- 60 seconds of inactivity
