After you’ve completed setup and enrolled at least one fingerprint, you’ll need to unlock your Bitkey hardware device with a fingerprint to use it for approvals in the app.

Unlocking your device
To unlock your hardware device:
- Touch your enrolled finger to the fingerprint sensor.
- The device will scan for a match:
- 🟢 If a match is found, the LED will turn green, and the device is unlocked.
- 🔴 If no match is found, the LED will turn red, and the device will remain locked.
You’ll need the device to be unlocked in order to approve actions in the Bitkey app.
Locking your device
You can lock your device in two ways:
- Manually: Touch the fingerprint sensor with a finger that is not enrolled. When the LED turns 🔴 red, the device is locked.

Automatically: Your device will lock itself:
- After being used to approve most actions (like transactions or security changes)
- After 60 seconds of inactivity
