Bitkey’s Inheritance feature makes it possible for the funds held in a Bitkey wallet to be accessed after the death of the wallet owner by their Inheritance beneficiary. To be a beneficiary, you must accept the beneficiary invitation that the wallet owner sends. When the wallet owner dies, you will initiate an inheritance claim, and upon successful completion of the claim, the funds from the benefactor’s Bitkey wallet will be transferred to your Bitkey wallet.
Note: Being designated as a Bitkey wallet beneficiary does not guarantee ownership of the funds in your benefactor’s wallet. Ownership of the funds in the wallet may be governed by a will, or other legal document which may take precedence over the beneficiary designation. We suggest you speak with an estate attorney or another licensed professional familiar with the legal requirements in your jurisdiction.
