Once the six-month waiting period ends, you’ll receive a notification that your inheritance funds are available.
⚠️ Important: Until you transfer the funds, they remain in your benefactor’s wallet and may still be accessed by them or anyone with access to their wallet.
To transfer the funds after the waiting period:

Open the Bitkey app
- As soon as you open the app after the waiting period ends, the claim status will automatically change to Claim approved
- As soon as you open the app after the waiting period ends, the claim status will automatically change to Claim approved

Navigate to the Confirm inheritance transfer screen
- If this is your first time opening the app after the delay period, you’ll be placed on this screen automatically
- If you’ve already exited this screen, tap the blue banner titled Claim approved on the Home screen

Review the transfer details
- Confirm the amount and recipient wallet information
- Confirm the amount and recipient wallet information

Tap Transfer to move the funds to your Bitkey wallet
- If you’re not ready to transfer the funds, you can exit this screen and return later.

The claim status will remain as Claim approved until the transfer is completed
⚠️ Important: Until you successfully transfer the funds to your wallet, they remain in your benefactor’s wallet and may still be accessible to them or anyone with access to their wallet.
- If your benefactor’s wallet does not contain any funds, you’ll see a message in the app.
- The claim will still complete, but no funds will be transferred.
After the transfer
- Your wallet balance will update to reflect the incoming funds
- The transaction will appear in your transaction history
- The claim status will remain Complete
If you no longer wish to see your benefactor’s name in the app, you can remove them:

If the transfer fails or isn’t successful, repeat the steps above to try again.
