If you receive a notification that your recovery has been canceled and you did NOT cancel it, then it’s possible that someone has access to either the Bitkey app on your mobile phone or your Bitkey hardware device.
If you were performing a recovery for:
Lost hardware:
- Return to the Bitkey app. There will be a notification on the screen when you first open the app that won't allow you to proceed further. Select Got it.
- Restart your recovery using the same process. See How do I recover from losing / replacing my Bitkey Hardware once I have my new one? for more information.
- This now includes verifying that you have control of your paired email/SMS by confirming with a code.
- From this point onwards, if someone has control of your missing hardware device, they won’t be able to use it to start another recovery (or cancel yours) without also being able to verify control of one of your paired communication channels (email or SMS)
Lost mobile device:
- Return to the Bitkey app. There will be a notification on the screen when you first open the app that won't allow you to proceed further. Select Got it.
- Restart your recovery using the same process. See How do I access my Bitkey wallet using my new phone? for more information.
- This now includes verifying that you have control of your paired email/SMS by confirming with a code.
- From this point onwards, if someone has control of your missing mobile device, they won’t be able to use it to start another recovery (or cancel yours) without also being able to verify control of one of your paired communication channels (email or SMS).
