Losing both your phone that contained the Bitkey app and your Bitkey hardware at the same time can feel like a scary situation to be in, but if you have at least one Trusted Contact enrolled for your wallet and still have access to the cloud account you most recently used with Bitkey, there is a path back to full control of your funds.
- You should take immediate precautions to disable your phone from being used. These will vary depending on the manufacturer and the OS of your mobile phone, but include marking as lost and remotely locking.
Note: If your phone was unlocked at the time it was lost / stolen, and you have set up Mobile Pay transactions, it’s possible that whoever is in possession of your phone can make Mobile Pay transactions until you initiate a recovery request, at which point Mobile Pay will be turned off.
- Replace your lost phone. It’s important that your replacement phone has the same operating system as the phone you are replacing.
- Replace your Bitkey hardware device. Before you can complete the full recovery process, you will need to have your new Bitkey hardware device in your possession. You can order a replacement Bitkey at bitkey.world.
