An inheritance claim can be canceled at any time while it is in the “Claim pending” state — by either the beneficiary or the benefactor.
Once a claim is approved and moves to the “Claim approved” state, it can no longer be canceled.
⚠️ Important:
- Bitkey cannot cancel a claim on behalf of a beneficiary or benefactor.
- Once a claim is canceled, it cannot be reinstated. If needed, a new claim must be initiated.
If you are the beneficiary
- From the Home screen, tap the
settings icon
- Tap
Inheritance
- Go to the Benefactors tab
- Locate the benefactor for whom you want to cancel the claim
- If their name is missing, there’s no current relationship or active claim

💡 Tip: If the claim is already approved and your wallet still contains funds you want to protect:

If your wallet is already empty, your beneficiary has likely completed the fund transfer.
At this point, since an encrypted copy of your App Key has been shared, your wallet is considered compromised.
We strongly recommend setting up a new wallet
